Hi everyone! We are Ecem and Yoana, two students from Germany, and we had the amazing opportunity to spend two weeks in Croatia doing an internship at Škola Žiger.
Even though we had already completed several internships in Germany before, this one felt very different from the beginning. Working at a language school gave us a completely new perspective on how an international environment functions. Instead of only focusing on one specific task, we were able to see many different aspects of the daily work behind the scenes.

During our internship we supported the team with a variety of tasks. One of the most interesting ones was working on a SWOT analysis of the school. At first it sounded very theoretical, but once we started analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and possible risks of the language school, we realized how useful this method is for businesses. It helped us understand how companies evaluate their position and think about future development.
We also spent some time helping with ideas for social media content. This was a creative part of the internship because we had to think about what could attract people’s attention and how a language school can present its courses online. It made us realize how important social media has become for companies today, especially when they want to reach new students.

Besides these tasks, we also helped with smaller organizational and office activities. Through this we learned how many things need to be coordinated in order for a school like this to run smoothly every day.
It showed us that a successful company depends on teamwork and good communication between different departments.
One of the things we appreciated the most during our time at the school was the atmosphere. The team was always friendly and supportive, and we immediately felt welcome.
One of our personal highlights was designing a noticeboard for the hallway.

We were allowed to come up with ideas, organize the information and design the board ourselves so that it would look interesting and inviting for students walking through the building. It was a fun and creative task, and it felt great to see our finished work displayed in the hallway afterwards. Small things like this made us feel like we were really contributing to the school.
Overall, the internship helped us gain a better understanding of how a business works in practice. We improved skills such as organization, teamwork and communication, and we also learned how important it is to be flexible when working on different tasks.
Looking back, these two weeks at Škola Žiger were a very valuable experience for us. Not only did we learn many new things, but we also gained confidence and a better idea of what working in an international environment can be like.
Thank you for reading about our experience!
Best wishes,
Ecem and Yoana from Germany
